Ironing: Home Visit or Collection

Price from ONLY £20 PER PILE.

What is a “Pile” of clothes?  A pile is up to 25 separate items of any article of clothing that we can either collect from your home or call out and iron in your own home. We are happy to iron any clothing and we don’t discriminate by charging extra on certain items, for example, work shirts, like other ironing companies do. On your first ironing pick-up we provide a free laundry bag that is yours to keep. Simply fill this with your chosen amount of clothing to be pressed. These will be professionally ironed in a non-smoking environment and returned to you within 48 hours. Or if you’d rather, we can iron in your own home. Whichever option you choose, your creased up pile of clothes will be replaced with beautifully ironed clothes on hangers or folded. Just tell us on collection your preference. It’s that straight forward!

Tremendous Taps

Did you know that vinegar can be used to banish limescale on bathroom taps?

Limescale is a substance that develops on chrome due to the minerals in hard water. It is harmless but very unsightly and spoils the look of an otherwise sparkling sink.

So if your chrome bathroom taps are looking a little worse for wear with limescale build up then you must try this simple but effective treatment. Please be aware that this is for chrome taps only. It is not recommended for gold plated or brass taps or where the plate is wearing thin.

With the vinegar/ water solution you made (that obviously by now you have used to clean all your windows!) simply spray onto affected areas and work in with a soft toothbrush. A babys toothbrush is ideal as its small enough to get into hard to reach areas. After brushing, rinse off well and buff dry. For really stubborn residue, soak a piece of towel or a clean cloth in the vinegar, wrap around the tap and cover with a plastic bag, securing with an elastic band. Leave for an hour or so, remembering to check every so often. Never leave overnight as the finish can become damaged. Rinse thoroughly, using toothbrush again if necessary. So thats it! Thats how easy it is to restore your taps their shining glory…..

You now have a powder room fit for a princess!!

And now that they are clean make sure they stay that way by getting into the habit of drying taps, basin and bath after each use to stop limescale returning.

How to keep your Towels Soft and Fluffy

Think you need to buy new towels because yours are as stiff and scratchy as an old loofah?? Try this and you’ll think again. They will put a spa towel to shame!

Lack of fluffiness is caused by two things….

1) Hard water

2) Soap residues building up

To restore and re – soften towels soak them in a bath half full of tepid water with a water softener added such as Calgon (this is available in most supermarkets). Rinse thoroughly then place in washing machine and wash as normal using the maximum recommended amount of your usual detergent. Add half a cup of clear vinegar to the first rinse, making sure not to add it to the conditioner compartment as this wont be released until the final rinse. To do this its best to keep an eye on the machine so to get the timing right.

Finally, rinse and spin towels well as the higher the spin, the softer the towels will be as more of the hard water impurities are taken out. Tumble drying gives the best softness effect as it opens up the terry loops. But don’t worry if you haven’t a dryer. Line drying is the next best thing as long as our British weather allows it!  If its not possible to do that then never be tempted to dry on the radiators as this makes them go hard and all your efforts will of been wasted.

And always avoid using fabric conditioner as this doesn’t soften the towels, it simply builds up a residue and also reduces the absorbency.

Does your Washing Machine have you in a Spin?

If your washing machine has been used more than once then there’s a fair chance that you could have something lurking in there thats far more scary than your partners unwashed socks!

Do you have black mould around the grey rubber ring? Have you tried to shift it with scourers, bleach or all number of things and all to no avail?

Well don’t worry because help is at hand! It is a common problem but it needs to be dealt with quickly before it corrodes the door seal and pipes.  Mould occurs due to constantly washing at 40’C or below or only using the quick wash cycle. Because low temperatures dont kill bacteria, at the end of a wash it gets left behind to build up inside the machine. The first sign of bacteria is a smell and then the sight of mould developing on the seal. In extreme cases there can also be marks left on clothes from the mould. Fortunately these can be removed simply by washing on the hottest temperature possible for the fabric.

Luckily it is just as easy to treat your machine. Simply run an empty wash on the hottest available temperature with a cup of trusty white vinegar added. If the problem is quite severe then you may need to repeat this three or four times to shift it completely.  Try to do a wash at 60’C or higher at least once a week to prevent bacteria reoccurring.

It really is that easy to return your washing machine back to its former glory and the only mould allowed in your kitchen now is on your brie cheese!

Will Vinegar Clean Windows?

YES,!!! Its not an Old Wives Tale, Its actually works.
To clean glass, simply fill an empty spray bottle with a solution of 50% water and 50% vinegar. Shake well. Spray mixture on the glass and clean with a dry cloth. The vinegar and water mixture cuts through the greasy, grimy film that accumulates on window glass. Finish with a clean Microfibre Cloth or if you wish to go real old school once you’ve finished cleaning the window take a piece of newspaper, crumple it up and go over the window with it to remove any streaks.
It’s all easy when you know how.

Kind Regards
